FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Coalition for Taxpayer Rights (ACTR), formed by the nation’s leading retail tax preparation and tax software companies and financial institutions, today released the following statement on Tax Day, the annual deadline for millions of Americans to file their federal income tax returns:

“Throughout this tax season, our industry has worked to help taxpayers navigate an evolving landscape and we are proud to support taxpayers with accurate guidance, accessible digital tools, and personalized service to ensure they can file with confidence.

Our commitment extends beyond today as we aim to provide year-round education, planning support, and advocacy to help taxpayers better understand their obligations and maximize their financial well-being.

ACTR’s member companies across our industry are investing in technology and partnerships that make filing more accessible, accurate, and efficient, while helping Americans maximize income. This includes supporting efforts to enhance e-filing and free-filing offerings, strengthen data security protections, expand taxpayer education, and ensure that innovations in tax administration benefit all Americans.

On this Tax Day, we thank taxpayers for their diligence and trust, and we reaffirm our commitment to simplifying the tax process and supporting financial clarity for all.”
