ACTR Statement on the Taxpayer Experience Improvement Act

March 26, 2026

“The American Coalition for Taxpayer Rights (ACTR) strongly supports legislation that will enhance transparency, fairness and quality service for the nation’s taxpayers.

We believe the bipartisan legislation, H.R. 7971, introduced by Reps. Schweikert and Beyer, is a very important step in the IRS modernization effort, and represents what taxpayers expect in 2026 in their interactions with the federal tax agency.

Creating a dashboard that will provide taxpayers with real-time information on call wait times and improving existing tools to provide updates on the status of a refund are the kind of common-sense, practical solutions that all taxpayers and tax preparers should support.”

Partnerships

The American Coalition for Taxpayer Rights (ACTR) was formed in 2011 by the nation’s leading retail tax preparation and tax software companies and financial institutions, which collectively prepare and file more than 120 million of the 155 million federal tax returns annually. ACTR advocates for taxpayer rights and strengthens America’s voluntary tax compliance system.
